The Canberra Labor Club has always been totally committed to promoting and encouraging responsible gaming practices and the Betsafe program takes this responsibility even further with an ongoing, comprehensive program of staff training, member counselling and community awareness.
The Betsafe program has been developed by the Paul Symond consultancy group and was first launched in NSW by the Minister for Gaming and Racing, the Hon. Richard Face MP in December 1998. The Canberra Labor Club Group, in August 2000, was the first licenced Club to implement the Betsafe program in the ACT.
Betsafe has developed a comprehensive policies and procedure manual which has formed the backbone of the most extensive staff training and patron counselling program ever undertaken by the local gaming industry.
Betsafe is a patron care program, which allows Canberra Labor Club customers to ask for assistance and feel comfortable that it will be dealt with in a confidential and professional manner. The Canberra Labor Club puts these people in contact with professionals who are trained to assist them with their gambling problem.
