The Club is proud to continue its long-standing relationship with VolunteeringACT as they align their community care with our club values, and we believe the services they provide are vital to the community.
The Canberra Labor Club has provided community assistance to VolunteeringACT for over 20
years, with funding and free office space. The current offices are located in the heart of the city and are used for their head office operations, where staff can develop the volunteer hub services and connect with the community through support programs, training and providing resource tools.
VolunteeringACT is the peak body for volunteering in the ACT, providing many varied volunteering opportunities as well as coordinating community services. They have over 3,000 listings in their Community Directory including support groups, interest groups, cultural community groups, sporting groups and a listing of health and welfare providers
The Club has further expanded the community assistance program to provide support towards the current housing crisis through the introduction of the community housing initiative.
The Club has purchased a two-bedroom unit within the ACT with the intention to lease this unit out as emergency short to medium term accommodation to provide support to those most in need.
The Club will engage with an experienced tenant identification and support service organisation for social housing initiatives to ensure the successful delivery of this emergency accommodation.
